  3. Canon Eos 20d Download Pictures To Mac

Older Mac OS X users have option to download Solution Disk Software which includes EOS Utility as well. MAC OS X 10.11.x – El Capitan – WORKING Go to Canon USA or even better, Canon UK site (where you can pick your DSLR from list). Download the update to the program you want to install at the Canon website. Download the file located here: EOSUtility.zip. It is an extremely small file and not the actual program.

I know this is maybe a stupid question, but i just got my mac for couple days, so .... I feel like i'm blind.
Usually when you plug the USB to PC from 7D, you can see the files; then you just need to copy / cut then paste.
Done ...
But Mac .... how in the world?
Do you need specific app?
Thanks.

Have you installed the software CD that came with the 7D? Personally I use a card reader anyway.

I'd also recommend a card reader. Easier, faster, and less problematic.

The software with the camera will auto-detect it on a Mac, as will Adobe Photoshop if you are using it. As other stated, use a card reader, much simpler and faster.

Use a card reader. Simplifies everything.
Disks that come with my camera never get opened. Don't need 'em don't like 'em.
Just use a card reader, Lightroom and Photoshop. That should round you out very well.
PS: Congrats on the new Mac.

Yeah it annoys me that the camera doesn't come up in Finder when I'm using a Mac, sometimes I can't find a card-reader in the studio so I have to transfer via USB.
Anyway I just import the photo's via lightroom

You might need to update the raw file handler for Photoshop so it can handle the 7D files. Go to their website for the update & carefully follow the instructions (I did this yesterday to get it to support the S90).

The pc will open a dialog asking you what app you want to open the device, while the mac will just mount
the device ( card reader ) and put it on your desktop, then open up the folder and your files will be there

There are several ways you can do it. If you launch Image Capture that is in the Applications/Utilities folder you can use it to import the images to anywhere on the computer you want if you would rather use iPhoto then while you have Image Capture open go to preferences and you will see a drop down menu that will let you select what happens when you connect your camera, you should see options like open iPhoto, Image Capture, do nothing. Just pick which one you want and the computer will do that.

If you go for a card reader do yourself a favor and get either the Lexar or Sandisk firewire card readers they smoke the USB ones.

I guess you guys are right, the easiest way to transfer is by using card reader.
I will get the card reader after I reply this thread.
I hate the part where you can't see the folder on the Mac's finder.
I did import using iPhoto and Lightroom, but somehow I didn't see the photos anywhere.
Maybe I did something wrong.

You'll need the latest update of lightroom (2.6) to read the RAW files of the 7D

The problem with 'get a card reader it's easier,' is that some of us have a card reader that just crapped out and we're looking for a solution NOW while the client has turned away for a moment.
Fortunately, there is a solution that doesn't require external software, a card reader, or losing your gig.
Connect your 7D to your computer via USB, turn it on, then open up Image Capture (native Mac software).
You'll see your files listed and can drag them to their destination. Hope that helps.
